Paintings with a personal love and vision!
Paintings of Distinction, Observation and Enduring Appeal
Mary Gore’s paintings reveal an exceptional understanding of her subjects, capturing the character, atmosphere and subtle beauty of the world around her with remarkable sensitivity. Working primarily in oils, she developed a confident and accomplished style distinguished by its warmth, authenticity and technical skill.

Although Mary only began painting in her sixties, her natural talent quickly earned recognition within the local artistic community. Her work was exhibited at the prestigious Assembly House, and she became widely admired for both her artistic ability and generous spirit. Many of her paintings were gifted to family, friends and admirers, making the surviving collection an increasingly rare opportunity for collectors and art lovers alike.
Born Mary Mayes in Creake, North Norfolk, on 1 August 1904, she spent much of her later life in Gaywood, King’s Lynn, with her husband, Reginald Gore, who operated a successful motor engineering business in the town. Together they raised their daughter, Sheila. Mary passed away in Hethersett on 29 November 1997, leaving behind a substantial body of work that continues to resonate with viewers today.

The paintings featured here represent only a small selection of her artistic output. Numerous works now reside in private collections throughout the United Kingdom and internationally, including collections in the Far East.
Preserving Mary’s Artistic Legacy
Mary’s grandson, David Clarke, has brought these remarkable paintings to wider attention so that they may continue to be appreciated and enjoyed by future generations. Rich in atmosphere, vitality and quiet observation, her works possess a timeless quality that enhances both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Painted in oils on board and individually framed, Mary’s landscapes and studies demonstrate an intuitive understanding of light, form and place. Their enduring appeal lies in their ability to evoke tranquillity, familiarity and a deep connection with the natural world, making them equally suited to private homes, offices and professional environments.
For purchasers seeking a more contemporary presentation, alternative framing options can be arranged. A simple white or modern gallery-style frame can beautifully complement Mary’s work while preserving its original character and charm.
